Cues
The cue table is where the real work happens — one row per cue, one column per field. Everything saves automatically as you type.
Opening the cue table
From the show page, click a dance name to open its cue table. You’ll see the dance name at the top, any global fields above the grid, and the cue rows below.
Adding a cue
Click Add Cueto create a new row at the bottom of the table. If the show admin has set default values on any fields, those are pre-filled automatically so you don’t have to re-type boilerplate.
Each dance has a cue limit (shown in the toolbar, e.g. “5/30 cues”). If you hit the limit, you’ll need to delete an existing cue or ask an admin to raise it.
Editing cells
Click any cell to start editing. The input adapts to the field type:
- Text — type directly in the cell
- Large text — expands into a multi-line editor
- Checkbox — click to toggle on/off
- Number — numeric input with validation
- Fader — drag the slider or type a value
- Timestamp — enter time in the configured format
- Dropdown — pick from a predefined list
Changes save automatically. There’s no save button — your work is always preserved as you go.
Required fields
Some fields are marked required by the show admin. Required columns are highlighted in the header so you know which ones have to be filled in before the cue is considered finished.
Global fields
Fields with global scope appear once at the top of the dance, above the cue grid — think dance-level notes, palette, or instructions from the designer. Global fields are shared across every cue in that dance.
Reordering cues
Drag the grip handle on the left side of a cue row to move it. The new order saves automatically. Only users with cue editing permissions can reorder.
Flagging a cue
Click the flag icon on a cue row to mark it for attention. Flagged cues are highlighted in the grid, and the show’s Flaggedpage gives you a single list of every flagged cue across the whole show — useful for tracking questions, re-dos, or discussion items with the rest of the team.
Plan feature
Cue flagging and cue history are only available on certain plans. If you don’t see these features, your org may be on a plan that doesn’t include them.
Cue list view
The compact list view shows every cue in a condensed format using only the fields marked “Show in List” by the admin. It’s great for a quick scan of the whole dance. Click any cue in the list to jump to its full detail.
Cue history
On plans that support it, Cue Designer tracks who changed what and when on each cue. This is especially useful when several people are editing the same dance together.
Deleting a cue
Click the delete button on a cue row to remove it. Deleted cues can’t be recovered, so double-check before you delete.
Dance instructions
If the show admin set up dance instructions, a dialog appears the first time you open a dance. This is where you’ll find workflow guidance specific to that dance — like which fields to prioritize or conventions the rest of the team is following.
Tip
Use keyboard tab/shift-tab to move between cells — it’s much faster than reaching for the mouse when you’re in the zone writing cues.
